ABILITY COUNTS ROUND UP
CHELSEA 5 ST ALBANS 0
Chelsea started of their season with a fine 5-0 victory over St Albans.
A very disciplined performance
by the Blues saw the players put all of their hard work on the training pitch to good use. Goals were scored by Sulando Ahmed
(Salt) hat-trick, Edgar Gillespie and an own goal.
Captain Sammy Kashef missed
a penalty at 2-0 but fortunately his team-mates bailed him out.
Michael Johnson made his
debut in goals and was awarded man-of-the-match in a game that was full of superb performances.
CHELSEA 1 BRIGHTON & HA 9
A poor day at the office
for our boys. Brighton started well with flowing football and good movement off the ball.
With the assistance of some uncharacteristic mistakes the Blues found themselves 4 down before half-time.
Brighton maintained the same tempo in the 2nd half with similar results to win 9-1.
The only highlight was the
consolation goal from Sammy Kashef, scoring from a well rehearsed corner routine.
CHELSEA (Dean)
2 CHELSEA (Andy) 3
Both Chelsea's
Community sides played each other in an excellent league match at Roehampton. Dean's squad started the match unbeaten, helped
by a superb away win against Brighton.
Dean's squad pressed
from the kick off and went one up in the first few minutes. In a very competitive match Dean's side were
awarded a penalty in the final minutes of the half. Which keeper Michael Johnson saved with his legs to keep his side in the
gamex 0-1 ht
From the kick-off
Andy's squad applied pressure in all areas of the pitch. This was rewarded with a corner kick which fell to
the feet of Edgar Gillespie who fired an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. 1-1
Dean's side regained
their lead when a long ball over the top was met by their striker, in what looked like an offside position. He made no mistake
in sliding the ball past the advancing keeper. 1-2
Time for a change
of personnel, Michael Saunders replaced Edgar Gillespie. This substitution changed the match. Sulando
Ahmed made a run down the left wing and with a pinpoint cross Michael Saunders headed into an empty net with only 4 minutes
to go. 2-2
Sensing that the
opposition was tiring Chelsea (Andy) went all out for the win. With only minutes remaining Martin Cueto lobbed a ball towards
the goal from the half-way line, Michael Saunders tried to get on the end of it and this deceived the on-rushing keeper who
missed the ball and it rolled into an empty net. 3-2
Chelsea (Andy)
ran down the remaining minutes and deservedly ran out 3-2 winners.
