Glasgow Rangers v Chelsea

On the 28th July we travelled north to play our Blues Brothers Rangers. This coincided with the launch of their new Disability Squad and the 1st team game at Ibrox on the same day.

When we arrived at Glasgow Airport we discovered that our visit had made the front page of the Glasgow Herald and there were various mentions on local radio stations on the morning of the game.

The locals were up for the challange and Rangers had 2 strong teams which proved to be tough opponents for the weakend Chelsea squad that had travelled. The well organised Gers teams proved to be stronger on the day, winning both matches with a lot of style. When Al Foster got nutmegged by the nippy Rangers Striker it was clear that the best team was going to win.

Both groups then travelled the short distance to watch the friendly match between the senior sides which also turned out in a Rangers victory.

A massive thank you goes to Greg Statt at Rangers and all of his colleagues. They put together a memorable trip and the new Rangers Disability side are going to be difficult to beat.

Thanks also go to Erica, Ian, John, Foz & Clans McElroy, Gallagher, Graham and Brown for all their help and support.

CHELSEA PARADE EURO TROPHY AT THE BRIDGE

The players and officials of Chelsea Community F.C. would like to thank Shaun Gore, Russell John and Chelsea F.C. for allowing the team to parade our European Trophy during the recent derby against Spurs.

To hear the Chelsea Supporters chanting "Champions"  as the players went round the Stadium was a magnificant moment. Credit must also be paid to all of the Spurs fans who generously applauded the team.

It was a very special moment for everyone connected with Chelsea Community F.C.

CHELSEA WIN TORNEO dei CASTELLI TOURNAMENT

A shock 3-1 win over the Italian favourites in the final sealed a fine victory for the team. Having been soundly beaten by the Italians in the group stages the players put in a strong, disciplined performance against strong opposition.

Jay Beckford scored from a well rehearsed free-kick only for the Italians to strike back immediately. A second goal from Jay gave us the edge at half-time and Edgar Gillespie finished the job off with a fine finish early in the 2nd half.

Top performances from Ian Proctor, Sammy Kashef and Lee Renard cancelled out the opposition and brought the first European trophy of the season back to Stamford Bridge.

TROFEO LOMBARDIA

A special mention must go to our very good friends in Milan.

Sporting4e are part of the Italian Special Olympic setup and promote sport for all disabilites within Italy.

We have been very fortunate to be invited to compete in their tournaments and have been able to meet some very special people.

El Presidenti, Stefano and their colleagues have gave our club some memorable experiences  which we can only hope to someday repay.

We have competed 3 times in the Trofeo Lombardia and each time won the tournament. Fingers crossed for the 4th time.
